1st stage: Bangkok–Phetchaburi–Hua Hin, 73 km (45 miles), flat (swim training)

We leave Bangkok by minibus in the direction of Phetchaburi. The initial drive from the very heart of Bangkok to our start location takes about 1,5 hours. Our starting stage rolls along flat side roads down the coast to Cha–Am, and on to Hua Hin on low traffic main roads.

Hua Hin, Thailand’s oldest sea side resort welcomes us with plenty of good restaurants, shops, and a 5 km (3 miles) long white sandy beach. In the afternoon, we will check in to the hotel and refresh ourselves in the big pool, or join Jurgen for swim training.

2nd stage: Hua Hin–Prachuap Khiri Khan, 119 km (74 miles), flat (run training on the stunning seaside promenade, lecture on training and nutrition)

After a delicious breakfast, we drive the first 13 km (8 miles) on the main road, and then continue riding on very smooth rural roads where plenty of shrimp farms shape the country side. We cross the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park and head towards the sleepy town of Prachuap Khiri Khan.

We arrive on the  seaside promenade and ride on to our boutique hotel located directly by the sea. In the evening we have the opportunity to enjoy plenty of fine local specialties.

3rd stage: Prachuap Khiri Khan–Haad Baan Krut, 63 km / 115 km (39 / 72 miles), gently rolling (run training on the beach or along the beach road, open-water swim training, temple sightseeing on request)

We ride along good quality side roads, and then continue on the main road. We then leave this road and ride the last 15 km (9 miles) back on side roads to the beach of Haad Ban Krut – our finishing point for the day’s stage. The tiny village is one of Thailand’s hidden gems.

At the end of the idyllic beach, perfect for swimming, is a very nice hilltop temple site. Here, we enjoy the view over the enchanting bay and the surrounding area covered by green foliage. The resort is located directly on the dreamlike sandy beach, beckoning us to relax.

4th stage: Haad Baan Krut–Chumphon, 122 km (76 miles), gently rolling (run training on the beach)

This gently rolling stage goes along side roads rich in variety. We pass many plantations, rice paddies and palm tree groves. In the little villages we are always greeted with heartily "hello's" from the locals.

The beach of Ao Thung Wua Laen is our finishing point for the day and is located 15 km (9 miles) outside of Chumphon.

    5th stage: Chumphon–Ranong, 140 km (87 miles), rolling

After 16 km (10 miles) we arrive in Chumphon, the capital of the province. The road gets a bit steeper and more technical as we go past exotic fruit orchards and tall palm trees with fan like tops. On the way we can taste the local Dim Sum specialities. We pass the Isthmus of Kra, the narrowest part of the Malaysian peninsular.

Ranong is located on the Indian Ocean. Here we check in to the hotel, which offers Hot Spa/Thermal pools and a swimming pool. The thermal waters are widely know for their healing effects. We can unwind in the hot water pool or in the outside pool, or at the wellness facility for a well-earned massage.

6th stage: Ranong–Kuraburi, 127 km (79 miles), rolling (run training around the picturesque lake, question and answer session with Jurgen)

We start with an easy ride on flat roads, with stunning sights in the rain forest. There is always something to see, whether it be monkeys jumping around the tree tops or elephants clearing the undergrowth. The last miles of our stage are an upward climb to our hotel, located like an oasis in the middle of the jungle.

The beautiful resort is set in a splendid garden with a little lake and a swimming pool inviting us for a refreshing bath. Let the feeling of the evergreen rain forest sink in. The delicious lakeside Thai dinner buffet is included. After dinner, Jurgen will answer your questions in a q & a session.

    7th stage: Kuraburi–Khao Lak, 74 km / 115 km (46 miles / 71miles), rolling (swim training in the sea)

Today's stage begins with a downhill ride, which then leads us through rubber plantations, coconut groves and little villages. After Takuapa we will reach the Andaman Sea. Khao Lak, is located at the foot of the lush green Lamru National Park.

The resort’s swimming pool and the beautiful white sandy beach provide us with the option for swim training with Jurgen. Jungle fans can explore the National Park on the back of an elephant!

    8th stage: Khao Lak–Phuket, 88 km (55 miles), flat

We ride to our final finishing point on the main road towards Phuket. After 55 km (34 miles) we cross the famous Sarasin Bridge and reach Thailand’s biggest island. The exciting journey finally ends at the Siam Bike Tours Shop in Choeng Thale (Laguna).

Proud of our achievement, but with a little melancholy that this incredible bike tour is already over, we lift our glasses and propose a toast to the tour.
