Phuket to Khao Sok Roundtrip Cycling Tour
About this tour
A very condensed way of getting to know many of Southern Thailand’s gems. In just four days you will get a glimpse of what the country has to offer: the breathtaking view over the Phang Nga Nature Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its countless limestone islands, and a subsequent boat tour to “James Bond Island”. Next, a night in the laid-back Khao Sok National Park with a guided canoe tour through the jungle, and finally another afternoon and overnight in Khao Lak with its endless beaches on the Andaman Sea. All of this on many hidden and low-traffic back roads of Phang Nga and Suratthani provinces, bordering Phuket to the north.

Day 1 | 1st stage: Phuket – Phang Nga
Trip to the famous Phang Nga Bay in the afternoon
109 km | L included
We depart in the morning from the Siam Bike Tours shop in Choeng Thale / Laguna. We load the luggage onto the van, and after bike fittings and the tour briefing, we finally start our ride. After about 30 km we pass the Sarasin Bridge to reach the mainland from where we will take picturesque side roads through tropical landscapes. At Samet Nangshe we will stop at the most amazing viewpoint featuring a popular café. In the afternoon we glide in longboats through a world of stony islets, overgrown with lush green vegetation. The Phang Nga Bay National Marine Park is renowned for its unspoiled mangrove landscape. If you are of a certain age, you may recognize the rock formations from the movie “The Man with the Golden Gun”, giving the trip its name as the “James Bond Island Tour”.
Day 2 | 2nd stage: Phang Nga – Khao Sok National Park
Canoe trip with paddling guide in the afternoon
102 km | B, L included
We twist and turn on a raised road through the jungle, heading towards Thaput. After a nice downhill ride, we reach this sleepy town and have a break. Then we pedal on a quiet and nice rural road to Phanom. The majestic limestone rocks topped with jungle vegetation stay with us today. We finally get into Khao Sok National Park. We move to our bungalows for a refreshing shower. As part of the program, we spend the afternoon exploring the nearby river on a canoe tour. Bizarre limestone rock formations and dense jungle pass us by. The Khao Sok National Park is famous for its huge variety of plants and wildlife.
Day 3 | 3rd stage: Khao Sok National Park – Khao Lak
Relax at the Indian Ocean
65 km | B included
Shortly after the start, there is a short ascent that leads us right through the jungle. This short part may be done by bus if you wish to do so. After enjoying a refreshing descent we head towards Takua Pa. We enjoy a nice coffee and refreshments on the panorama terrace of the Khirinara Golf Club. After that, we ride on a beautiful section with varied, tropical vegetation. 3 km before we reach Khao Lak, we do a short picture stop at the Tsunami Memorial. In the afternoon there is plenty of time for swimming and relaxing, with the luxury of both a swimming pool or the sandy beach to choose from.
Day 4 | 4th stage: Khao Lak – Phuket
96 km | B, L included
We follow the main road for 33 km and turn left on a stunning side road near the beautiful coast. After the coffee break, we pass the Sarasin Bridge to cross back onto Thailand’s largest island, Phuket. After lunch, we cycle at a relaxed pace back to Siam Bike Tours Shop and toast our eventful tour.
All of our cycling tours will be arranged into small groups and guided by an experienced tour guide. Our bike tours are suitable for any enthusiastic cyclist in reasonable shape.
The group will determine the riding speed on any stage; faster riders may go ahead together, regrouping at selected refreshment stops with the others. During our tours it is mandatory to wear a helmet.
The Siam Bike Tours minibus will transport all luggage, spare parts, wheels, tools, etc. During all of the rides we will offer water, soft drinks and fresh fruit. If desired, any rider may complete the day’s stage by bus.
The Thai currency is the baht. ATM’s, which are abundant, are the easiest ways to get Thai baht. Have a supply of US dollars in cash on hand, just in case your card doesn’t work. Banks or the rarer private money changers offer the best foreign-exchange rates. Credit cards are accepted in big cities and resort hotels but you’ll need baht for family-run guesthouses or restaurants.
We recommend that you visit a travel medical doctor and ask about the following vaccinations: typhoid, polio, tetanus and hepatitis A. A certificate for Yellow Fever is required when arriving from an infected area within six days.
All nationalities require a passport for entry into Thailand. Please ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the duration of your stay in the country. If staying less than 30 days then a visa in advance is not required by European, North American, Australian and many other nationalities. You will need to show proof of an onward flight out of Thailand to be eligible for the visa on arrival. This is strictly enforced.
